Introduction to Computers:
After taking this course the student should be able to:
- Know what the computer looks like inside and how it functions.
- Open / Close the computer properly.
- Recognize terms such as: cursor, click, double-click, cut, copy, move, taskbar, desktop, icons, indicator buttons, menus, scroll bars and buttons, kb, megs, file, folder, hard drive, etc.
- To work effectively with the mouse. (Configure it for a right or left handed person)
- Know what icons and their properties are all about.
- Use the help option.
- Know how to use the Standard Toolbars.
- How to work with the many facets of windows.
- How to create, save, open, rename and delete a file/document.
- How to create, cut, copy, paste, delete and rename a folder.
- How to use the cut, copy, paste, drag and drop options.
- How to use the Undo option.
- How to use Windows Explorer to manage documents and folders.
- How to restore a document from the recycle bin.
- How to copy from a diskette to the Hard drive and vice-versa.
- How to use the Find, Replace options.
- How to install a program.
The creation of documents, the cut-copy-paste options, resize, minimize, restore options, etc., are studied using Ms Word so a brief introduction to Word is given at the same time.
