Welcome to Local and Regional Bluegrass News

Super Fiddle Show

The Bluegrass Hour   The Bluegrass Hour is a 60-minute program of bluegrass music on CHRQ radio 106.9 FM in Restigouche, Quebec.Restigouche is situated just across the inter-provincial bridge from Campbellton, New Brunswick.         The program debut in January of 1995, at 3pm on Sunday afternoons, and remained there for a short period of time. It then moved to the Saturday morning Bone Country Show, and in the fall of 2001 joined The Friday Night All Request Country Show.         On air from 7:30 to 8:30pm, Edgar plays the recorded music of local, regional, national and international bluegrass artists?.         In 2000, The Downeast Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Society gave Edgar a certificate, for the program?s fifth year on air, and in 2005 received his tenth year certificate, for his part in the preservation and promotion of bluegrass and old-time music in Eastern Canada.         Because Edgar is always promoting bluegrass, sings and plays upright bass with The Silver Fox Bluegrass Band, and cannot always make it to the CHRQ studios, he produces The Bluegrass Hour at home in his own studio, and delivers it to the radio Station in CD format.         Edgar has been with CHRQ as a volunteer DJ since the station went on air in June of 1991.  Since 1989, Edgar had been promoting new country album releases in two columns, The Country Music Scene in the Campbellton Tribune, and The Country Beat in the Bathurst Northern Light, both papers situated in the northern part of New Brunswick. In December of 2006 and after much thought, gave it-up and is now concentrating his time promoting the music he loves in this column, Bluegrass News, The Bluegrass hour and singing and playing with Silver Fox,  Willie LaPointe (guitar & vocals), Robert Daigle (mandolin & Vocals) and Everett Fournier (banjo.)
