James Alexander & Co Last week it was rumored that owing to pressure of creditors the firm of James Alexander & Co. were about to assign, and rumor in this case proved correct as the Sheriff took possession on Friday for the two principal creditors, Bault Bros & Co., and H. Shorey & Co. of Montreal, whose claims amount to between $8000 and $9000. The estate was given into the hands of S. H. Lingley, as trustee who by arrangement with the Sheriff has placed John A. Flett as manager and is selling off the stock for the benefit of the creditors. The state, liabilities amounting to about $27,000 and nomina assets $15,000.
