Gunner Russell Kierstead

Has died of injuries in Britain, it is disclosed in a message received here by his father James Kierstead from the Officer in Charge of Rec ords , Ottawa. The message received this week reads: Regret deeply G-7407, Gunner Russell Kierstead, reported died September 27. Further details forwarded when received".

The young man was 34 years of age and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery in Campbellton on January 17th of this year. He went overseas in June, which indicates his service was short before he gave his life in his country's service. He was well known in this vicinity and his family have the sympathy of the commmunity in their bereavement.

Gunner Kierstead is survived by his father; three brothers Stanlley, in BC, Howard in Ontario, and Gordon in Tide Head, and two sisters Mrs. Richard Lavoie, Dalhousie and Mrs. Joseph C. Frenette, Jacquet River.
