One Step Back

As far as the writter has been able to learn only serious set back due to weather conditions, or other uncontrollable contingencies, was met with in the early years of telephone history on the North Shore. This occurred in December of the year 1908 when most of the line between Charlo and Petit Rocher went down under a severe sleet storm. In the Campbellton fire in 1910 the company lost its exchange and equipment, but following this disaster service was quickly re-established, despite the existence of many serious difficulties. In later years many severe storms had contributed to the worries of linemen and officials but a splendid service has been maintained and every passing year has been one of progress.
