Sketches of the Restigouche

The Tribune

Courtesy Patricia Craig

These young men were fishing salmon somewhere upriver in 1908. Third from the left is Reg Shives, who later became known in Campbellton as a businessman and champion curler. The first man on the left, holding the axe and fishing pole, may possibly be Joe "Bonor" (so spelled on some photographs - probably "Bernard"), who was a fishing guide at the time. Reg's brother, Arnold Shives, who later moved to British Columbia, took this photograph.
